Award Nominations

Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries is priveleged to recognize local individuals and businesses for their contributions of time, talent and treasure to their communities, congregations, Allegheny Synod and ALSM.

All awards except for the Dr. Walden Holl Award are presented at ALSM’s Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony held in October. The Dr. Walden Holl Award is presented at the annual Allegheny Synod Assembly Meeting in June.

Helping Hand Award

This was established to recognize outstanding volunteer service to ALSM, whether in “hands-on” service, agency leadership or financial support.

Dr. Luke Rhoads Lutheran of the Year Award

This was established to recognize outstanding service in daily life or community service by a person who is a member of a Lutheran congregation in the ALSM service area.

This was established to recognize outstanding service in daily life or community service by a youth. An eligible youth is a member of a Lutheran Congregation in the ALSM service area who is in grade 8 or below at the time the award is presented in the fall of each year.

Dr. Walden Holl Award

This was established to recognize a rostered leader of the Allegheny Synod who has demonstrated by exceptional attitude and action the noble attributes of one living out the indicatives of Micah 6:8: “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
