Children’s Services
ALSM’s children’s service programs strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment and experiences that allow each child to reach his or her fullest potential.
Family Center of Bedford County is a free program to anyone expecting a child or families who have children from birth to school age. Family Center offers home visits using the Parents As Teachers (PAT) curriculum and also offers group activities in the community.
Early Head Start offers free educational, health, nutritional and family services. The program is for pregnant parents and parents of children ages birth to three years who are income eligible or have identified special needs.
Head Start offers educational, health, nutritional and family services from children ages three to five and their parents. The program is open to children/families who are income eligible or children who have identified special needs.
Growing Years Early Learning Centers offer child care for children ages birth through five years of age in an environment that is secure and educational. Centers are located in Altoona, Bedford, Claysburg, DuBois and Johnstown.
Kid Stops offer care for school age children (kindergarten through age 12) for before-and-after school and full-time in the summer. The program provides an interesting, challenging and safe environment for school age children. Kid Stops are located in Bedford, Everett and Johnstown.
