“We have three reasons why we liked the Growing Years Center more than others that we visited. The first reason was that for part of the day the center had all of kids in the same room. This was very important to us since we had a 4 year old and a 1 year old who were used to being with each other at a babysitter’s house. It allowed our kids to have a gradual separation from one another instead of a immediate shock. The second reason was the interaction between the kids and the older adults. We think that this helps build respect for grandparents and others of similar ages. The last reason was that employees that we met really seemed to care about our children. Jen, Linda, Grandma Nelda, and other staff members were always pleasant no matter when we came or picked up and always had a story about one or both of the kids. How we could really tell that this was sincere was when Linda cried the last day we picked up Brody before we moved into our new house in Bedford County.” – Nate
“Our experience at Growing Years Early Learning Center in Altoona has been nothing short of wonderful. Both of my children have attended the center for approximately 3 years, and the level of care as well as the education my children have received is very impressive to say the least. The center provides an excellent environment for children socially and academically, and the staff is sincere, nurturing and professional. I would highly recommend the Growing Years Early Learning Center in Altoona to any parent who wants their children to receive the best care this area has to offer.” – Rebecca
“I love the fact that it is such a small group. My kids can’t wait to get there most days. The staff have done wonderful things in helping my son with some learning delays. He could barely speak when he started 2 years ago and now we can’t get him to stop. Both my daughter and son have learned valuable lessons in sharing and playing with others. They feel safe and loved by all of the staff members.” – Lisa S.
“Their ‘learning through play’ philosophy has been paramount to their development…Growing Years has also helped with the social development of our kids. We love the idea of the intergenerational care. Our son often eats with the seniors which gives him a compassion and understanding for all people, not just his age cohorts. In fact, our children had the unique opportunity to attend the same care facility as their 99 year old great-grandmother. The Growing Years has also been influential in the disciplining of our children. In fact, we have incorporated our behavior plan based on the Growing Years model. We find their philosophy of discipline to be fair; but firm. The staff is excellent with communication and immediate feedback through the anecdotal records.” – Patrick and Elaine B.
“Our daughter attended Growing Years ten years ago. When we needed daycare for our youngest son, Growing Years was our only choice. Upon discovered that “Miss Jen” was not only still here but now the director, we looked no further. The combination of staff, the number of children, and the interaction with the adults (seniors) made it the right choice for us. We know that our son is happy in a caring and safe environment when we can’t be with him and we couldn’t be happier with our choice.” – Christine and Kurt S.
