Personal care at Schreffler Manor at The Oaks offers the perfect balance of freedom and assistance for those who want to maintain independence but need some help in their daily lives. The Oaks at Pleasant Gap has 43 personal care beds.
Respite care is offered on a space-available basis for up to 30 days to provide families with a break from caregiving responsibilities.
Personal care includes:
Personalized care plan coordinated with caregivers and physician
Staff team available 24 hours a day
Assistance with personal routines such as grooming, dressing, medication and dietary management
Private and semi-private rooms
Fire protection system, bathroom safety features, 24-hour assistance call button
Full schedule of activities for body, mind and spirit, including Nintendo Wii Games
Access to Dakim Brain Fitness units using touchscreen technology to stimulate residents’ minds
Three daily meals tailored to match dietary needs served in our sunlit dining room
Housekeeping and laundry service
Transportation to medical appointments
Access to on-site medical services, including podiatry services, weekly clinical lab services, mobile diagnostic services and primary care physicians available through contracted provider
Weekly worship services
Priority admission to skilled nursing units at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg or The Lutheran Home at Johnstown

Personal care provides the comfort, safety and security many seniors need as they age while allowing them to maintain independent lifestyles. Rooms feature a living/bedroom combination, entrance hall, large closet and private bathroom with a shower. Rooms are furnished, but residents’ belongings add a reflection of individual taste and feeling of being home. Each room has individually controlled heating and cooling thermostat for every resident’s personal comfort. Handicap accessible rooms and suites are available.
Activities are an important part of daily life for personal care residents. Weekly activities at Schreffler Manor include an exercise session, Bible study group, reading program and shopping trips. Weekly church services are offered by our pastor or area clergy. Ministers of all denominations are always welcome to visit.
Schreffler Manor offers beautifully furnished common areas that include a library with fireplace, dining and living rooms with cathedral ceiling and skylights and activity room with complete kitchen. A porch with ample seating and garden with a pond and walking path allow you to enjoy nature and spend time with friends.
