Senior Daily Living Center-Altoona

Our center provides adult day services to offer a safe and secure daytime “home away from home” for senior adults who caregivers must work or tend to other responsibilities. The programs and staff teams focus on the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of each person. The Altoona center is unique in that it is in the same building as the Growing Years Early Learning Center, allowing for intergenerational activities with children and seniors.

 

We welcome adults over 60 who have some impairment such as:

Alzheimer's disease

Diabetes

Stroke

Dementia

Physical or mental limitations

Social isolation


We also welcome adults under 60 who have special needs.

Adult day service at a Senior Daily Living Center includes:

Daily activities geared toward various levels of ability

Companionship

Mental and physical stimulation

Breakfast and morning and afternoon snacks

Nutritious lunch by local area agencies on aging

Personal care (grooming, hygiene) at an additional cost

Occupational, physical and speech therapy available through a contracted provider

Nursing services

  • Bowel/bladder training and incontinence care
  • Gait training
  • Medication administration
  • Diabetes checks
  • Nourishment and dietary supplements
  • Bathing and skin care
  • Range of motion and use of adaptive equipment
  • Total assessments, include monitoring of vital signs

Podiatry services by licensed podiatrist

Licensed beautician services

Peace of mind and respite for caregivers

Our Senior Daily Living Centers are licensed by the Department of Aging. This service is funded in part by Blair Senior Services as part of its plan to serve older persons.
